Research: Menopausal Symptoms, Stress, and Sleep in Postmenopausal Middle-Aged Women: A Randomized Single-Blind Sham-Controlled Trial

This study explored the impact of auricular acupressure on menopausal symptoms, stress, and sleep in postmenopausal women. Conducted as a randomized, single-blind, sham-controlled trial, the intervention involved applying vaccaria seeds to specific ear points associated with stress and hormonal balance. Results indicated significant improvements in menopause-related symptoms, stress reduction (measured by heart rate variability and EEG), and sleep quality (assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and actigraphy). The findings suggest that auricular acupressure may be an effective nonpharmacologic option for managing menopausal symptoms and improving overall well-being in postmenopausal women.
