How Solstice began

Solstice wasn't built from a business plan, it was built from a personal experience. Laura Donovan discovered ear seeds through her own wellness journey, searching for tools that could support her physically, mentally, and emotionally. The shift was immediate and undeniable. She noticed a meaningful change not only in her body but in her mental well-being, something she described as both subtle and profound.

What surprised her most was that despite ear seeding's nearly 2,000-year history, she hadn't encountered it sooner. After deepening her understanding of auricular therapy and earning her certification, the path forward became clear. With her family's support, she invested her savings into building Solstice, launched in August 2025 with a single mission: to make this ancient practice genuinely accessible for modern life.

The mission in her own words

The Women's Journal piece asked Laura directly about what drives Solstice. Her answer captures the brand's core:

"Solstice is about making self-care more accessible, intuitive, and meaningful. Our mission is to reconnect people with their own sense of balance — physically, emotionally, and energetically — through a ritual that's rooted in tradition but designed for modern life."

On education specifically, a value that shapes everything from the app to the placement maps to the protocol cards:

"I don't believe in gatekeeping wellness. When people understand how and why something works, it becomes that much more powerful."

What ear seeding offers — in a world that asks a lot of us

One of the themes running through the Women's Journal piece is how ear seeding meets people exactly where they are. As Laura described it, so many of us are overwhelmed, stretched thin, or disconnected from our bodies. What ear seeding offers is something small, beautiful, and grounding, without requiring a significant time investment, expensive treatments, or perfection.

That accessibility is intentional. Every element of the Solstice kit, the printed placement maps, the protocol cards organized by goal, the iOS app that walks you through placement visually, exists to lower the barrier between someone's curiosity and their first successful session. The practice is ancient. The access is new.
